Schachjugend Oberpfalz

Regensburg. Wenn 390 Kinder über Stunden freiwillig auf ihr Handy verzichten, ist wieder Oberpfalzmeisterschaft im Schulschach. Im größten Schachturnier der Oberpfalz spielten 94 Mannschaften in der RT-Halle um die Titel und die Qualifikation zur Bayerischen Meisterschaft. Dabei waren von Grundschulen über Mittelschulen, Realschulen und Gymnasien bis hin zu FOS/BOS alle Schularten vertreten. Traditionell finden sich sowohl starke Vereinsspieler, als auch viele Anfänger, die ihren ersten großen Wettbewerb bestreiten. Ein Team besteht aus vier Spielern plus bis zu zwei Ersatzspielern. Gespielt wird mit Uhr, regelwidrige Züge werden bestraft und jeder kleinste Vorteil zählt. Und trotzdem sind die Kinder mit Freude dabei, geben fair ihre Versehen zu und suchen nach Partien gemeinsam nach besseren Zügen.

Um in einer der sechs Wertungsklassen Vorne zu landen, braucht man toughe, turniererfahren Spieler. Am erfolgreichsten waren in diesem Jahr wieder die Ausrichter vom Albrecht-Altdorfer-Gymnasium Regensburg. Sie stellten in zwei Wertungsklassen die Siegermannschaft und einen Zweitplatzierten. Als Schachlehrer 2023 wurde Johannes Gelhard geehrt, dessen Schule, das Werner-von-Siemens Gymnasium Regensburg, den Titel der besten Schule nur knapp verpasste.
